Learn 2 Volunteer

Learn 2 Volunteer

Capacity building in the field of youth

SUMMARY

E-learning is an efficient mean for ensuring the volunteers to develop their competences all along their ESC project. It is also a good way to commit them into a continuous and easy-to-achieve learning process in order to enhance their skills, optimize their role within the host community, and find their career way. Moreover, the e-learning, can be an efficient tool to support mentors, trainers and supervisors of the volunteers. For these reasons, in 2017, we created an online platform (https://euromed.e-evs.eu/) which includes online trainings to support European volunteers.

In this context, we wish to improve this platform and continue to meet the needs of the future volunteers and the priorities of Solidarity corps program. We will cooperate with our partners engaged in the ESC programme, coming from 5 EuroMed countries: Tunisia, Turkey, Jordan, Greece and Italy. Together we will launch a project based on our experience and made up of diverse & complementary activities for 20 months, centred on the topic of on-line educational support for the ESC volunteers.

The main objective of our project is to enhance the adoption of innovative practices from youth workers related to European volunteers, by developing personalized, collaborative and accessible learning approaches for all young beneficiaries of European Solidarity Corps projects.

Our project consists of the following activities:

  1. A 2-days transnational project meeting in Turkey to determine the methods of the implementation of the project and the role to be assigned by each one.
  2. 2 research surveys which aim at detecting the needs and feedback from the beneficiaries of our online platform and from the new future beneficiaries: Euro Med ESC volunteers in terms of online trainings.
  3. A 10-days Training course in Greece, which will involve 24 participants to improve the existing online trainings accessible on our platform & create new ones to be updated to the ESC program and to the needs of the current volunteers.
  4. Creating educational videos by experts for the online training courses that request additional visual support.
  5. Testing the online courses with the target group: ESC volunteers, gathering and analysing their feedback. 6- Updating the user’s guide of the platform for the beneficiaries.
  6. A 9 days Training course in Tunisia to consolidate the skills of our current e-mentors of the online platform & to develop also the profile and skills of new participants to become E-mentors.
  7. A 5 months experimentation of our Platform, by the volunteers. The e-mentors trained will provide support to the beneficiaries.
  8. Updating & enriching user’s guide of the platform for E-mentors.
  9. A 7 days Training course in Italy to improve the evaluation instruments of the platform & to create instruments for the validation of the skills acquired by the beneficiaries.
  10. A 2 months dissemination process.
  11. A 2 days transnational evaluation meeting in Tunisia, to evaluate our project.

OBJECTIVES

  • Giving the youth workers, the staff and the experts of the partner organizations, the opportunity to obtain new knowledge, skills and competences about notions of the e-learning within the framework of informal education and about uses of modern methods of learning in the sector of young people’s informal education (methods based on virtual technologies) with a view to update and improve their own working process
  • Promoting the adoption of innovative practices within the frame of European Solidarity Corps (ESC) and the education in the sustainable entrepreneurship, by working out learner-tailored and teamwork-centred paths of learning and making smart use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and of free educational resources, in a broader context of an open, accessible learning to everyone.
  • Allowing the beneficiaries of the ESC programme to develop their personal competences in the course of their service and join in an educational process which facilitates their transition from the world of volunteering into the professional world, by means of modules of e-learning which help them to acquire skills commensurate to their own needs (personal and professional), ensuring thus their potential as active citizens
  • Creating an innovative tool of identifying and validating the knowledge, skills and competences acquired by non-formal education, through e-learning.
  • Developing the capacities / competences of the partner-organizations which are active in the volunteering field as well as in the education in entrepreneurship, making use of the potential of e-learning and particularly of the “Moodle” application.
  • Improving the participation in the learning process and boosting the ties between international volunteering and the “employability”.
