Five European volunteers from “Solidarity Tracks” organization, started a series of initiatives aiming to make Lefkada a more sustainable place. For the year 2021, they are launching a multi-dimensional campaign: stop to single-use plastic.

The first action promoted long-life cotton bags for shopping in order to raise awareness of the local citizens of Lefkada on the issue of environmental pollution and reduce the use of plastic bags. This action took place on Saturday, February 20, 2021 in collaboration with the supermarket “My market” and 100 citizens, customers o the market.
The volunteer team designed 100 hundred attractive and fashionable eco-bags which were shared to the customers after participating in a quiz, which contained questions about the amount of plastic thrown by each family per week and the monstrous effect of plastic on the environment.
A small stand was also installed with further info materials (posters, flyers, info cards) to provide more info on the negative effects of plastic.
All the bags were distributed sucesfully during the event informing a small percentage of the community to prevent single use plastic in the future.
Big thanks to Greta, Camille, Elena, Liiva, Chloe, Maria and to the staff of the organization for their support.
