Building together our EuroMed Eco Home

Between 14-25 of June, we organized with the support the European Commission “Youth in Action programme” and Youth and Life Long Learning Foundation, a training course in Nidri, Lefkada, in Greece, for 37 participants coming from 15 European and Mediterranean countries: Algeria, Egypt, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Jordan, Latvia, Morocco, Romania, Palestine, Poland, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey.

During the 10 days of the training course, the participants developed their skills and working methods in building an ecological home and tools that make it sustainable, exchanged ideas and experiences on the themes of eco building and sustainability, and started a lasting partnership that enables them to plan and implement programs to raise awareness about “green homes” and sustainable development programs targeted to youth and citizens of their countries.

During the training course the participants had a real experience with building an eco-home inspired by the Euro-Mediterranean culture. With the assistance of specialised trainers, they built the cob walls of the home, built and instaled systems that use only renewable energy sources, like biogas and solar power and created a technical and educational guide that illuminates these experiences and facilitates the mission to raise awareness.

They also created a step by step presentation showing the progress of the project and especially the building. These materials are shared online and on DVD’s, hard copies with the pertners of the training and with the network of organisations we and our partners collaborate with.
